Attn. Parents:
Minute Meetings
I meet individually with the
children for “minute meetings.” These meetings let me know, in a minute or
two, how students are feeling this year. They know that if they
ever need any help, the counselor is here for them!

Pledge to Stop Bullying
In September, I share a lesson on bullying prevention with your child's class. The goal is to reduce the incidence of bullying and hurtful behavior at school and to encourage respectful behavior. The lesson encourages students to become more aware of the feelings involved in bullying and to know what to do if ever faced with a situation that involves bullying.
Please take some time to discuss bullying with your child, and reinforce the
following points:
· Bullying is a serious issue and should always be reported to a grown-up.
· There are grown-ups at school and at home that will help him/her in a
hurtful situation.
· If bullying continues following a report, he/she should continue to report it until it stops.
Any alleged incident of bullying may also be reported at any time through the
district bullying hotline at (979)987-3318. Thanks for all you do to help your child
be safe and successful.

Be Drug Free
Dear Parents,
In October, I visit with students about keeping our bodies healthy and safe and the importance of being drug free. At the end of the month (Oct. 23rd-26th), Sealy Elementary will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. The Red Ribbon Compaign is designed to encourage healthy, drug-free lifestyles among youth. We will have a theme for each day of the week. Your child may participate as much or as little as he/she would like.
The days and themes are as follows:
Monday, October 22
(No School This Day)
Tuesday, October 23
"Be Your Own Champion - Live Drug Free & Follow Your Dreams"
(Dress as your dream career - Show everyone what you want to be when you grow up!)
Wednesday, October 24
"Crazy About Being Drug Free"
(Wear crazy hair &/or crazy socks.)
Thursday, October 25
"Drugs & I Don't Match"
(Wear mismatched clothes.)
Friday, October 26
"Team Up Against Drugs"
(Wear something sports themed: shirt, jersey, uniform,or your favorite team colors.)
Red Ribbon Week is a great opportunity for you to speak with your child about the dangers of drugs and the importance of making healthy choices. Research shows that the more children hear about the dangers of drugs, the more likely they will refrain from using them. Several websites are available that provide tips and information for parents and students. Our favorites are www.theantidrug.com and www.abovetheinfluence.com.
Thanks for all you do to help your child be safe and successful.
